Cards skimmed

06 Apr, 2011 04:27 PM
An alleged skimming device found by bank staff on an Upper Mountains ATM is being forensically examined by police.

Staff at the Blackheath Commonwealth Bank noticed the ATM had been tampered with between 8am on March 23 and 8am on March 24 and handed a device to local detectives.

One customer told the Gazette his bank card was skimmed while using the ATM on the morning of March 23, and a short time later only a few hundred dollars was left in his account.

Blue Mountains police said the item handed over by the staff was currently being examined and the fraud squad was continuing investigations into the matter.
