A general meeting of the members of Katoomba RSL All Services Club will be held at the Lurline Street club at 10am on Sunday, February 7 where members will vote on five resolutions to remove individual directors and five resolutions to appoint new directors.
In a statement to the Gazette, the current board labelled the forthcoming meeting as “a campaign of disruption” in the face of its call for healing.
A spokesperson for the challengers said several requests to meet the directors have been ignored and all members have the option to vote to remove any directors in accordance with the club’s constitution at any time.
Last September another group of members narrowly failed to gain a simple majority of votes to oust all directors, after calling for change following the closure of Katoomba Bowling Club and a poor financial result for Katoomba RSL Club.
The current board claims it is cutting costs, has increased profitability and has an effective long term strategy including seeking expressions of interest for leasing Katoomba Bowling Club and Blackheath Sports Club.
The new challengers are campaigning on a platform of improving the standing and financial situation of Katoomba RSL Club for all members and the community.
The club’s financial results for the December quarter were due to be released today.
