Springwood putt Lithgow in their place

Giant killers Lithgow Golf Club continued their impressive start to the 2010 Blue Mountains Pennants Golf season, defeating Wentworth Falls Country Club 3-2 in the prestigious Seniors Division (A Grade) in second round action.

Reigning Seniors title holders Leura Golf Club were still in the doldrums in week two, falling 3-2 to Springwood Country Club.

Lithgow’s juniors continued the success story for their club, defeating reigning title holders Wentworth Falls 3-2 to remain undefeated.

The only blemish for the Lithgow club would occur in A Reserve Division, with Springwood crushing their opponents 6-1.

In other action from the A Reserves, Oberon Golf Club defeated Grose River Golf Club 4-3, Portland Golf Club defeated Blackheath Golf Club 5-2 and reigning premiers Wentworth Falls defeated Henbury Golf Club 4-3.

Kortum Shield (B Grade) started their season in week two and the first-up winners were Grose River over Henbury 2-0, reigning title holders Springwood #1 defeated Springwood #2 by 2-1, Katoomba Golf Club defeated Portland 2-1, Leura defeated Gulgong Golf Club 2-1 and Wentworth Falls #1 defeated Wentworth Falls #2 by 2-1.

Blackheath had the bye.

The Masters Division (Over 55s) rounded out the day’s action, with reigning title holders Wentworth Falls bouncing back into form, after their first-round demolition at the hands of Katoomba.

Wentworth Falls #1 defeated Blackheath 4-2, Katoomba drew 3-3 with Wentworth Falls #2 and Leura drew 3-3 with Springwood.
