Central Coast team Grass is Greener powered to victory in the recent WildEndurance Challenge event in the Blue Mountains.
The winners posted a new record time of 13 hours, 14 minutes for the gruelling 100km event.
“We love this challenge,” said Grass is Greener captain Darrel Robins.
“It’s a fantastic course with all types of running terrain, some easier stretches and then some challenging hills, stairs and technical climbs.”
The winning time was well within the 48-hour time limit imposed on teams.
More than 112 teams and 500 competitors took part in the event, double the 2009 entry list.
As well as battling it out for line honours, the teams of four or six raise funds to support the Wilderness Society.
“This event is a fun, family and environment friendly experience,” said WildEndurance event co-ordinator Sarah Rimmer.
”The course is tough, but with proper training, just about anyone can do it.
“We hope the event continues to grow next year.”
