Two service stations in the Upper Mountains were targeted by armed robbers in the last 10 days.
Two masked men armed with knives held up the Blackheath Total Fuel/IGA service station at 6.20am this Monday, August 26, leaving with money and cigarettes.
And police are still investigating an armed robbery a week earlier at the Medlow Bath service station in the early hours of Tuesday morning, August 20.
Two men wearing balaclavas rushed into the business at 3am when there were no customers and the staff member on duty was on his own. One threatened him with a knife and forced him to open the cash register then they also stole packets of cigarettes.
That staff member said the men seemed to know where the CCTV cameras were as they hid their faces when they passed the cameras.
Inspector Ken Shack-Evans from Katoomba Police said both robberies had a “very similar modus operandi”.
Anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles or activity near either service station at the time of the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
