Firefighters are still battling to contain a bushfire at Winmalee that burnt more than 500 hectares of bushland yesterday.
But a home originally reported as destroyed by the blaze was only damaged, NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said this morning.
"Firefighters will continue to work today to establish containment lines around the fire, including along the Nepean River," the NSW Rural Fire Service website stated at 7am today (Wednesday).
"Crews have been backburning overnight to consolidate containment lines and worked to protect properties."
Two firefighters were treated for burns and five others required treatment for smoke inhalation on Tuesday, while another was taken to hospital with chest pains.
All of those firefighters had been released from hospital by Wednesday morning.
Yellow Rock residents were among locals who were evacuated last night when the bushfire near Hawkesbury Road threatened their properties.
Winmalee Public School and Winmalee High School have closed today as a precaution.
