The new Big W building site at Katoomba is silent. The workers have gone and the only signs of life are two security guards sitting outside the fence to stop would-be thieves or vandals.
Work stopped on Friday a week ago, after the collapse of Walton Construction, the company building the new store for Woolworths.
Walton Construction, which once had 340 employees and turned over $360 million a year. was placed in administration on October 3, affecting a number of projects around the country.
A spokesman for Woolworths said construction had stopped temporarily.
“We are currently looking at options to recommence work at the site,” he said.
