PENRITH state MP Stuart Ayres will be promoted to the NSW ministry this Monday.
Today Premier Barry O’Farrell announced Mr Ayres would join his ministry, although he has not yet said which portfolio he will hold.
‘‘I am honoured and humbled to be selected as a minister in the government,’’ Mr Ayres said.
‘‘The opportunity to be a minister allows me to represent the Penrith electorate and western Sydney in an even bigger and better way.
‘‘I am a passionate advocate for western Sydney and I will be strong voice at the cabinet table for local residents and businesses.’’
Earlier this year he was appointed a Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for transport and roads and later, for western Sydney.
He said he was proud to be part of a government that was delivering projects for the region, such as the WestConnex road and North West Rail links.
Mr Ayres has represented the Penrith electorate, which extends to Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains, in the state Parliament since winning the seat with a record swing in the 2010 byelection.
He is only the second Liberal MP to hold Penrith.
