The current licensee of Katoomba’s Station Bar and Woodfired Pizza, John Cope, appeared before Katoomba Local Court on Monday on two drug supply charges.
Cope, 36, who appeared without a solicitor, pleaded not guilty to a charge of supply/knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug and also not guilty to a second charge of licensee permit sale of suspected prohibited drug.
The charges relate to alleged undercover activity in the Katoomba business district as part of Strike Force Elrond.
The Gazette reported other cases more than a month ago. At the time, Assistant Commissioner Denis Clifford, regional commander for north-western Sydney, would not rule out further arrests.
Police prosecutor Simon Fishburn told the court “this is one of the matters involving several co-accused, some who are in custody” to which Magistrate Fiona Toose told the defendant “I’ll see you on the 5th, sir”.
The case has been adjourned to be heard with the other co-accused drug matters on May 5 in the same court. Cope told the court he would then be represented by Katoomba solicitor Phillip Blaxell.
