THE Illawarra's Emma and David McKeon have shone in the pool in the first night of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, both winning medals.
Sister Emma proved the star, as Australia too five gold medals on day one, winning two herself, taking gold in the 200m freestyle in 1:55.57 and then backing up to be part of the 4 x 100m freestyle team, which smashed the world record in a time of 3:30.98.
David went within a lap of making it a golden night for the family when he finished second on the 400m individual medley.
Albion Park’s Casey Eastham’s women’s hockey team also started strongly as they scored a strong 4-0 win over Malaysia.
