A Colombian women’s cycling team has caused a stir when the kit they revealed for a race in northern Italy gave the appearance that the riders were semi-naked.
The uniform was a traditional cycling outfit from the chest up and the thighs down, but the midriff and groin were covered in flesh-coloured fabric with an unfortunate shadow.

The team is backed by the Colombian ministry of sport and has sponsorship from the city of Bogota.
This year there have already been a number of high profile fashion fails in the sporting arena. The swimsuit of the Australian team at the Commonwealth Games was widely criticised for highlighting the crotch area of the swimmers while Scotland’s uniform for the Games had the locals cringing with its clichéd motifs.

Golfer John Daly, nicknamed the Wild Thing, in one of his many crimes against fashion, wore pants that were a collage of naked women during the second round of this year's British Open.
There was controversy at Wimbledon this year with many female players describing as “creepy” the checks that officials undertook to ensure undergarments were all white in accordance with the tournament rules. Some players were forced to play without bras to conform to the regulations.
Australian squash player Danielle Drady took the see-through approach a step further in 1994 when she wore a cling wrap outfit to promote the sport’s first outdoor tournament.
Czech tennis player Dominik Hrbaty caused a stir at the 2005 US Open when he wore an outfit that contained two designer holes at the back of the shirt.
But maybe the worst outfit of the year goes to Spanish football club Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa whose outfit resembles that of a tuxedo.
