Members from Rotary clubs across the Blue Mountains, local businesses and the NSW government will be joining forces on Sunday, October 26, for graffiti removal day.
Member for Blue Mountains Roza Sage is lending her support to the day again this year and will be on the ground helping to remove graffiti in the Blue Mountains.
"Graffiti vandalism is a major problem which costs local businesses and households, the NSW government and Blue Mountains City Council millions of dollars each year," said Mrs Sage.
"The day will provide a great opportunity to highlight the problem of graffiti vandalism and encourage people to get involved in the removal and prevention of graffiti."
Local Rotarian Trevor Lloyd said: "Local Rotary club members have a strong history of fighting graffiti, which is why we are proud to be working with the NSW government, local businesses and great sponsors such as Dulux, Selleys, Brookfield Johnson Controls and Smart Graffiti on this event.
"Graffiti removal day provides a great opportunity for individuals, community groups, sporting clubs, businesses and other organisations to join the fight against graffiti and make a real difference to the appearance of our local community.
"Last year's event was a great success, and we expect this year to be even bigger.
"I would encourage everyone to support this great event by volunteering to help remove graffiti on October 26.
"People who volunteer to help out on the day will be supplied with cleaning material, paint, safety equipment and training on how to safely remove graffiti."
Those unable to attend can still support the event, by promoting graffiti removal day on Facebook or Twitter or simply telling their friends, family and work mates about the initiative.
