The Southern Stars' Alyssa Healy is bracing for a big-hitting onslaught from the West Indies.
But the 24-year-old says she feels no pressure about pulling on the gloves in her new role as Australia's No.1 wicketkeeper.
The two sides face off in Sydney on Sunday in the first of four Twenty20 internationals before meeting in four one-dayers through November.
Healy described the West Indies as both "really tough" and "really interesting" to play.
"They can be a little bit inconsistent but when they are on song and their batters are in form they can beat anyone," she said. "It's going to be a big season for us to keep their top order to low scores and for our top order to combat the plenty of options they have with the ball."
Australia holds the world title in the game's short formats and Healy, a four-time world champion, said the team was prepared for the West Indies' quick, dynamic cricket.
"We've just got some really good plans in place for each one of that West Indian team."
It is not the first time Healy will play as Australia's first choice behind the stumps. She was the No.1 keep in the last women's Ashes and the Twenty20 world cup in Bangladesh when Jodie Fields was injured.
But after Fields' retirement in June, Healy looks set to become a fixture in a position she originally "just sort of fell into".
She said she loved being involved in the game at every ball and aimed to keep herself in the gloves for as long as possible.
The niece of Australian wicketkeeping great Ian Healy, she does not see him too often as they live in different states. But she said she had run into him more lately as he took on more women's cricket commentary.
"One thing he has been fantastic about is the mental game," she said. "To be able to pick his brains about keeping for long periods of time and concentrating throughout the day - it's incredible to get that feedback from someone so close to me."
Three of the Stars' Twenty20 matches are being broadcast on the Gem channel before the Australian men's matches, publicity Healy believes will help build the women's game.
"Everyone's surprised when they see a game of women's cricket," she said. "They are generally impressed with the standard of game we play. We train just as much as the boy's. We're full-time athletes."
Healy said she put in just as much work in as her boyfriend, Australian quick Mitchell Starc. But she said the pair have contrasting personalities on and off the field.
"We're a bit funny off the field. Mitchell is generally a lot more quiet than me but when he goes out on the field he's a fiery fast bowler. Whereas possibly I go into my shell a little bit more."
Whatever her demeanour on the field, Healy has won herself a place at the centre of the action.
