Arrest made relating to Springwood sculpture thefts

Blue Mountains police made an arrest relating to the theft of the sculpture in Springwood's town square in the early hours of Friday morning, May 18.

A 35-year-old Springwood man was charged with goods in custody after his vehicle was stopped by police about 4am.

Police allegedly found brass items and tiles from the sculpture inside the vehicle. They will allege these items were stolen from the town square earlier in the night.

The Gazette understands the area was placed under surveillance, with the co-operation of Blue Mountains City Council, after the sculpture was initially targeted by thieves on Saturday, May 5.
