Work begins at Glenbrook Pool.

Million-dollar renovations have begun at Glenbrook Pool.

Deputy Mayor Mark Greenhill and Ward 4 councillor Fiona Creed announced the start of the $1.3m construction at Glenbrook pool last week, with the site now fenced off for construction.

Clr Greenhill said the project would see an upgrade of plant equipment and the covering of the activity pool, possibly leading to year round use.

“I have previously said that the indoor pool may be useful for hydrotherapy but I suspect it may be too shallow for that,” he said in a statement.

“But it will be terrific for kids and families for a range of activities.

“This represents a massive investment in swimming in Glenbrook and will see a vastly improved aquatic centre.

“Our council is committed to spending more and creating better facilities in the Lower Blue Mountains and this project is a standout part of that commitment.”

Clr Creed said she was “very excited” about the works.

“I have a long commitment to swimming in the Lower Mountains and I am thrilled to see this work commencing,” she said.

“This represents the biggest cash injection into Glenbrook pool since it was constructed. I look forward to the potential for year round use of Glenbrook pool.”
