Hazelbrook man faces court over pedestrian death

A 33-year-old Hazelbrook man will appear in court next month following the death of a pedestrian at Bullaburra on Monday.

Kieran O'Connor was granted conditional bail in Katoomba Court on Tuesday after police laid charges of manslaughter and negligent driving occasioning death.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Hay Street shortly before 4pm on Monday following reports a man had been struck by a car, a police statement said.

"Upon arrival, police and paramedics located the man deceased and underneath the car," police stated.

The alleged driver of the vehicle was taken to Katoomba Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests before being taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was interviewed by detectives.

Police will allege the two men were known to each other.

Mr O'Connor will appear in Katoomba Local Court on July 9. The victim's name was suppressed by the court.
