Unknown man found at Blackheath

A man found in a dazed state wandering around a Blackheath lookout has been taken to hospital while police attempt to establish his identity.

Police and paramedics were called to Govetts Leap Lookout about 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday) after members of the public became concerned for the man's welfare.

"At the scene a man was found in a cold and dazed state unable to tell police his name or address," a police statement said.

"He was taken to Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital in Katoomba for examination having sustained some form of amnesia.

"He remains in hospital receiving treatment."

Katoomba officers are attempting to identify the man and are appealing for anyone who recognises him to come forward.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a tanned complexion, 45 to 55 years old, 175 to 185cm tall with black hair and green/hazel eyes.

The man, who speaks with an English accent, was found wearing a red button-up dress shirt, Pierre Cardin jeans and a suit jacket.
