A series of break-ins and attempted break-ins around the Lower Mountains has prompted a warning to residents to secure their homes by police.
The incidents occured around the Old Bathurst Road, Boorea Street and Yoogali Crescent areas of East Blaxland last weekend, police said in a statement.
On July 15, a man aged in his 20s wearing a white jumper was reported by witnesses to have run away from one premises by climbing over fences.
Police say residents should think about home security and try to take steps to reduce the risk of being a victim of a break-and-enter.
Access to one of the premises was through the rear door, which had a key left in it.
In other premises entry was attempted by removing fly screens from open windows.
“Don’t make it easy for criminals,” Blue Mountains crime prevention officer Mel Rosevear said.
“If you noticed anything suspicious in that area on Sunday between 8am and 5pm contact Springwood police on 4751-0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.”
