A Bullaburra man had his licence suspended after allegedly street racing on the Great Western Highway.
Police will allege officers heard the sound of engines revving while they were stopped on the highway at Kingswood about 10pm yesterday (Sunday) and then saw a purple Nissan 180SX and a white Nissan Skyline travelling side-by-side and racing each other as they travelled east.
Both vehicles were stopped and the drivers submitted to breath tests, returning negative readings.
"A 24-year-old man from Bullaburra and a 21-year-old man from Doonside were issued court attendance notices for street racing and are expected to appear in Penrith Local Court at a later date," a police statement said.
"Police also confiscated the number plates from both vehicles for a period of three months and suspended the men’s drivers’ licences."
Inspector Garry Sims from Penrith Local Area Command said the incident should "serve as a reminder to motorists about the dangers of speeding and street racing".
