The 20th Blue Mountains Music Festival starts in Katoomba on Friday night, March 13.
The buzz about having Macy Gray, John Butler, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Dan Sultan in town on the same weekend is growing and there is also plenty of excitement about everyone else on the bill. There is so much to like about the festival line-up that the chatter on the street and on social media is becoming deafening, said festival co-director Al Ward.
As well as the headliners, the festival will feature the Jordie Lane Duo, Perch Creek, Frank Yamma, David Bridie, We Two Thieves, Wagons, Castlecomer, plus Gordie Mackeeman and his Rhythm Boys (Canada ).
Hailing from Denmark will be Himmerland, While and Matthews (UK ), Maru Tarang (India and Australia), Edwina Hayes (UK), Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas (UK and USA), The Heartstring Quartet (UK), Phil Wiggins (US) and Dom Turner (Oz).
The Nuala Kennedy Trio will come from Ireland, joined by Steve Poltz (USA), Dewayne Everettsmith, The Spooky Men's Chorale, Daniel Champagne, The White Top Mountaineers (US ), bluegrass band The Company, Bearded Gypsy Band, Fromseier Hockings (Denmark), plus many more.
There will be two guitar circles featuring the pick of the guitarists at the festival, and a special songwriters' circle featuring Britain's While and Matthews, Jordie Lane, Dewayne Everettsmith and great South Australian writer John Baker from The Baker Suite.
A special after dark treat for the 20th anniversary will be the onsite video projection History is Made at Night by Bulgari Art Prize winning Indigenous artist Daniel Boyd.
The usual poets' breakfasts, Heartland Conversations for the ABC, food and craft markets and other on site fun will be laid on. The popular Boho bar at the Big Top, the Guinness Bar and the Tantric Turtle Chai tent will be on site again, and the kids' space will be operating as in previous years.
