The RSPCA Blue Mountains volunteer branch, in partnership with the RSPCA Blue Mountains shelter, will hold an open day in Katoomba this Sunday.
Held from 10am-3pm, the open day is "all about welcoming everyone and highlighting the work of staff, branch members and animal-loving volunteers, all of whom work together and make this great service possible for all of us and our animals to enjoy", said Ken Newton from the Blue Mountains RSPCA Volunteer Branch.
"There will be entertainment, prizes and information, food, drinks and a lot of fun for people of all ages - and it is expected that many two- and four-legged friends will have a great day," he said.
"If you have ever had a pet from the shelter come along and tell your story as our team is always are interested in the benefit each animal brings to each welcoming and loving home."
The shelter has supported the people and animals of the Blue Mountains for more than 30 years. While there has been some uncertainty about the shelter's future in the last 12 months, thanks to an ongoing commitment from RSPCA NSW and dedicated Blue Mountains volunteer branch members "it is all paws on deck and business as usual as we move into the future", said Mr Newton.
RSPCA NSW is almost entirely funded through the generosity and support of the people of NSW. Blue Mountains residents can show their support by adopting an animal; using the boarding facility; purchasing merchandise; making a donation; making a gift in their will; becoming an active member; becoming a foster carer; or by volunteering at the shelter.
"Let's all make the day a great success and acknowledge the great work done for all creatures great and small. Please ensure all canine friends attending are leashed," said Mr Newton.
The centre is located at 121-125 Mort Street, Katoomba. For more details phone 4782 2674 or RSPCA Blue Mountains Volunteer Branch on Facebook.
