He could be the next MasterChef extraordinaire.
Seven-year-old Elliot Spolc's crunchy top lemon loaf was a hit at the local and regional finals of The Land CWA cookery competition, and now he's made it to the state finals in Tamworth in May.
It will be an extra sweet day on May 4, if the Wentworth Falls youngster places in the final, as he will also be celebrating his eighth birthday.
"I like making things and knowing how it was made and what you need to do," Elliot said.
"I will probably become a chef in a few years."
Elliot enjoys watching MasterChef with his older brother Oliver, 11, whose speedway cake took out first place in the children's section of the local cooking competition.
Both boys have entered the competition for the past three years and have been regional finalists.
Elliot said at home his specialty was pasta with freshly-prepared pesto, and he enjoyed cooking cakes too.
Mum Jackie said Elliot had been cooking since age three.
"They can see how food is made, where it comes from and how much sugar goes into things," she said.
The CWA cooking competitions are open to non-CWA members, so when a friend of the family asked if the boys were interested in entering, Mrs Spolc thought 'why not'.
CWA judge Patricia Boyer said Elliot's loaf was of a very high standard.
CWA Leura branch secretary and The Land cookery officer for the Blue Mountains group Pam Cocks, was pleased children were entering the competition and encouraged others to take part next year.
Bianca Randall from the Glenbrook branch who entered the children's section with her speedway cake, has also made it to the state final.
