Wentworth Falls local Jarrod Wheatley has been selected to appear on the cover of this year's Penrith Yellow and White Pages.
Mr Wheatley was chosen under the theme, Australian Stars Rising Above, which celebrates up-and-coming Australians who are achieving beyond their years and making positive changes in their community.
Mr Wheatley is the founder of Street Art Murals Australia (SAMA) and a well-known social worker in the Blue Mountains. He established SAMA - formerly the Blue Mountains Street Art Collaborative - to support local artists and break down barriers between youth and the wider community.
SAMA artists have painted more than 100 urban murals, 98 per cent of which have remained free of vandalism, with a single mural saving the government up to $20,000 in cleaning costs.
"We have been running education programs in youth centres and high schools to help young people find their place in the community and foster a healthy creative outlet for them.
"The program has had a positive impact on both individual artists and the overall quality of the area's street art," said Mr Wheatley.
Each year Sensis, the publisher of the Yellow Pages and White Pages, has recognised the efforts of local people in their communities by celebrating their achievements on the covers of its regional books.
Previous Blue Mountains residents to appear on the cover of the Penrith Book include Lawson resident Helen Walker in 2013/14 and Hazelbrook's John Hughes in 2012/13.
This year's Penrith book started being distributed to homes in the local region on April 18.
