A woman has been indecently assaulted by a stranger in the communal laundry of a north shore apartment block.
The 36-year-old said she was approached by a man at 7.15pm on Thursday in the laundry of the block on Lower Bent Street in Neutral Bay.
The man knocked her to the ground and indecently assaulted her, before she was able to fight him off and he ran away.
Police searched the area extensively on Thursday night but were unable to find him.
"The woman was shaken during the incident but not injured," a police statement said.
The man has been described as being of Indian subcontinental appearance, about 170 centimetres tall, with a slim build and dark hair.
He was wearing a dark zip-up tracksuit top, and cream or khaki pants.
