Rain had eased the bushfire threat to homes in Wentworth Falls on Sunday night after an out-of-control blaze took hold on the weekend.
"Rain has fallen across the fireground, with conditions easing for firefighters from the NSW RFS, National Parks & Wildlife Service and Fire & Rescue," the RFS posted at 9.37pm on Sunday.
"The immediate threat to homes has eased. Firefighters will continue to work in the area overnight in an effort to contain the fire.
"The fire continues to burn in the valley to the east of Tableland Road, on the southern side of Wentworth Falls."
Gusty winds on Sunday saw the fire flare up throughout the day.
The fire burned more than 300 hectares in the area around Tableland Road, Little Switzerland Drive and Hordern Road. Fire is also burning below the cliff face in the Jamison Valley.
Dramatic footage taken on Sunday - and shared by the NSW Rural Fire Service - showed the size of the blaze at Tableland Road and the task facing fire crews.
"While threats have now eased... this footage shows difficult conditions as crews protected homes," the RFS tweeted on Sunday night.
