Police have charged two men after $1.15 million worth of cannabis was seized during a raid in Leura on Wednesday.
North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad – Penrith have been investigating the enhanced cultivation of prohibited plants in the north-west region.
Following investigations, at 12.15pm on Wednesday officers attended a home on St Georges Road, Leura, and spoke to 39-year-old man at the front door.
The home was searched with police locating an alleged hydroponic cannabis setup. Following further searches officer located another 39-year-old man.
Both men were arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station.
A crime scene was established and 230 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of $1.15m, and other hydroponic growing equipment was seized, and will undergo forensic examination.
The two men were charged with large commercial enhanced cultivation of prohibited plant and use/consume electricity without authority.
They were refused bail and appeared at Penrith Local Court where they were rescheduled to appear at Penrith Local Court on September 9.
Officers are continuing to investigate the cultivation of prohibited plants in the north-west region.
