Woodford milliner Christine Thompson's hats have made there way on to reality TV music competition X Factor.
She was given one day's notice to make two fitted skull caps with a felt base for two male dancers.
The show's arts department would then top them with their own creations.
"It's like the cake and someone else decorates it," Ms Thompson explained.
The hats were made for dancers, rather than the singers, as the noise distortion created from wearing a hat can prove challenging for an inexperienced singer.
"Hats distort the voice, so they don't tend to like to put them on young singers, it can be a bit off-putting," Ms Thompson said.
She was excited to deliver the hats to Fox Studios on September 26, where contestants were doing some promotional work.
Here she met one of her favourites, Michaela Baranov from Pennant Hills, whose performance of Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams on September 27 drew a standing ovation from the show's four judges.
"It was nice to bump into her - I got a bit starstruck," Ms Thompson said.
She was invited to take part in the project when the show's costume director Christine Mutton sought her advice.
The pair had worked together previously in Sydney for the 2013 musical King Kong.
