It's the little red go-to bag for the bushfire season and staff working at the eight Fire & Rescue NSW stations in the Mountains are keen for you to have them.
The bushfire emergency "must have bags" are now free and available to Blue Mountains residents.The bag contains a bushfire survival plan, an emergency checklist and an information booklet with localised bushfire environment information.
The plan helps residents prepare their homes and can be picked up at local stations - Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth Falls, Lawson, Glenbrook and Springwood.
Springwood Station Officer Rod Kinder said each fire station has 50 of the free, splash proof A3 bags to give away.
"It's red so it's easily identifiable," Mr Kinder said last Thursday.
"The idea of it is that you can put all your birth certificates, your passports, your important documents like your insurances, etc, in it so when you do have to go in a hurry it's one bag and you can just grab and go."
The bag also has listed important websites on the back, as well as the bushfire information line.
The station officer said the bags were being given out throughout NSW this year, in partnership with insurance giant, GIO, to make life easier for potential fire victims.
"This was sponsored by GIO because they realised, especially after the 2013 bushfires, people didn't have all the paperwork they needed and it took a lot of investigation to try and find the stuff they needed, especially insurance papers and ID."
Station officer Kinder encouraged residents to use the bag to also store a flashdrive of house and contents photos and videos and anything else of value.
"Every Fire and Rescue station in the Blue Mountains has 50 of these and it's first come, first served, for any local residents."
