Federal Member for Macquarie Louise Markus said she still supports the second airport at Badgerys Creek while acknowledging "many residents have concerns about the proposed flight paths over the Lower Blue Mountains".
"An airport is needed for Greater Western Sydney; it is after all our nation's fourth largest city and the economic outcome for the region in both business and employment opportunities is very much needed," she said.
"However, I understand that residents moved to the Lower Blue Mountains for lifestyle choices and for many, pending flight paths were not part of this equation.
"I have and will continue to meet and make strong representations to the Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss to voice residents' concerns. I will be making my own submission on the Western Sydney Airport flight paths to find a possible alternative and the best outcome for residents."
