THE lengths that Sutherland Shire lifeguards go to raise money for charity will be on everyone's lips this Saturday.
The shire lads are joining lifeguards from Waverley and Randwick councils to take part in the Movember Lifeguard Relay.
Starting at Bondi Beach at 9am and finishing at Cronulla Plaza at 12pm, the three lifeguard teams will use rescue boards, jet skis, personal water craft, inflatable rescue boats, as well as running to raise funds in support of the Movember charity event.
The month of November has been renamed Movember and encourages men to grow and groom a moustache to raise awareness of men's cancer, particularly for prostate and testicular cancer.
Some shire lifeguards are also sporting a new moustache this month for Movember and have the target of raising $5000.
The relay will start at 9am with Waverley Council lifeguards heading south to meet up with Randwick lifeguards at Clovelly Beach where there will be a board paddle and run.
At 9.45am the Randwick Council lifeguards will use jet skis from Clovelly Beach to Maroubra Beach then they will run from Maroubra Beach to the meeting point with Sutherland Shire Council lifeguards at Little Congwong Beach, La Perouse.
At 10.30am Sutherland Shire Council lifeguards continue the relay south to Cronulla with board paddlers, personal water craft and inflatable rescue boats to travel across Port Botany to Kurnell.
The lifeguard jeep with Sonny the Lifeguard will follow runners along the road to Boat Harbour entrance and then along the beach to North Cronulla stopping at each beach along the way to collect donations.
The lifeguards will swim from north to south Cronulla and the relay will finish with Sonny walking south to north through Cronulla Plaza and finishing at the Plaza Stage at the northern end of the Plaza.
