Blue Mountains group, PEAKS, launched their debut EP, Staggered Hearts, at The Clarendon in Katoomba on Saturday night, November 28.
The band had sold out the venue and there was a strong buzz of anticipation in the air before the show.
When the lights dimmed, the exquisite vocals of lead singer Kearna Murray sliced through the air as the curtains parted to reveal the three members of PEAKS.
Murray, Justin Hunter and Tomasz Charuk sound like a futuristic soul, hip hop band, whose entire mission through their catchy melodies and uplifting lyrics, is to get the audience dancing.
At the end of the band’s set the audience, in full voice, chanted “one more, one more, one more”, which PEAKS kindly indulged by playing an encore of well-known song, White Noise, by UK band Disclosure.
From the soaring vocals of Murray to the beats, scratching, and emotive key work of Hunter and Charuk, the trio crafted each track with a remarkable amount of melody that left me humming their first track long after I arrived home.
Lucky for those that missed out, the band has announced another show on December 18 at The Clarendon.
