BLUE Mountains City Council asked for feedback on the area’s sport and recreational facilities – our Facebook followers gave their thoughts:
“I would like the council to put more money into the people who pay rates, and less on facilities for tourists, particularly those that cater to large overseas companies who ensure their visitors put very little into the local economy.”
James Byrnes
“I would like all sports ovals to be designated off leash areas when there is no sport on.”
Claire Hogan
“I am reasonably happy with my ‘play areas’. Most would be managed by national parks. I am terribly worried about recreation if the Blue Mountains end up getting bombarded with flights from the stupidly proposed airport with the #flawedEIS.”
Stef An
“How bout some better parks for the kids. You go out west and see what they have in their parks makes our parks in the mountains look dismal...between the broken equipment and the packed out kids kingdom only really leaves bushwalking.”
Sharn Barker
“The parks in the lower mountains are disgusting for kids... We have to travel to Penrith just to find a decent, clean and entertaining park... BMCC needs to understand that not only do I visit these parks but I spend money in the local businesses near these parks as a result.”
Choekyi Jangchub
“I’d like to see an ice rink or roller skating rink that was all year round in use. There needs to be indoor things in the mountains that get kids active.”
