Glenbrook’s Paul Mukhin has been selected as the YMCA NSW Youth Parliament representative for Penrith for 2016.
Paul is currently part of the Blue Mountains City Youth Council where he is a 2015-2016, going onto 2016-2017 youth councillor, and is also a recent member of Youth Action, the peak body for youth in the state.
Penrith MP, Stuart Ayres, congratulated Paul, saying he had “a keen interest in youth representation in society and will be a great representative for Penrith”.
Paul has co-headed Penrith High School’s 'political club' in 2014 and early 2015. The club fosters the discussion and debate of a wide range of topics and policies relating to government.
“I have a great interest in the values of our natural world and in equal opportunity for all to have their voices heard,” said Paul.
He heads into youth parliament with a desire to debate, to learn, to work and to make lifelong friends.
The YMCA NSW Youth Parliament is a program that offers young people aged 15-18 a way to put across their ideas about issues that concern them. It is a program where the opinions and concerns of young people in NSW are heard by those who have the power to make laws.
Mr Ayres nominated Paul for the position. Young people can be nominated by Members of the NSW Parliament or they can apply directly to take part in the program.
