Blue Mountains public schools, charity organisations, junior sporting clubs and other community groups have until May 6 to apply for Sydney Water grants.
Kylie Yeend of Sydney Water said the organisation’s local community support program will provide up to $1000 (cash or value in-kind) to help local community groups located within 3km of the Winmalee Wastewater Treatment Plant.
“Sydney Water has been a part of Sydney’s neighbourhood for over 125 years and many of our staff live and work in the communities around our local plants. We deliver among the world’s best water daily to your tap and we safeguard Sydney’s beaches and waterways by cleaning 1.4 billion litres of wastewater every day,” said Ms Yeend.
“Our aim is to assist local community groups who may be overlooked when it comes to funding or in-kind support of their important programs.”
Support can be in the form of cash grants up to $1000, or Sydney Water staff may volunteer their time or skills to help with events or for building/maintenance programs, for example providing plumbing skills. Sydney Water can also provide in kind support including loaning portable water refill stations for community events.
