Prepare to put your best paw forward at the RSPCA’s annual Million Paws Walk at Melrose Park in Katoomba on May 15.
Dog lovers and plenty of pooches will be walking to fundraise for RSPCA NSW animals and fight animal cruelty in the local area.
Now in its 23rd year, the animal welfare charity is hoping to raise $500,000 across New South Wales for the event on 15 May 2016.
During the last financial year, 38,459 animals called an RSPCA NSW shelter home for some period, while 32 inspectors investigated more than 15,000 allegations of animal cruelty.
“As a charity with less than two per cent of annual operating costs coming from the state government, events like these are pivotal in raising awareness about all the animals who need homes and the role that the RSPCA has. It is our job to care for our region’s abused, injured, neglected and stray animals. The responsibility is massive, and we need the community’s help,” said RSPCA Blue Mountains Volunteer Branch President Ken Newton.
“No matter your pooch's ability, age, breed or size, all dogs are welcome for a fantastic day out. Just make sure they are well socialised, and leave your cats and any other fur-friends at home.” Mr Newton concluded.
Million Paws Walk is a great day out for dog lovers, dog owners, pooches and the whole family. For more information about your local walk, or to register, visit millionpawswalk.com.au.
