Andrew Fowler, author of The Most Dangerous Man in the World – the definitive account of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks – is coming to the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba to give this year’s Dark Lecture for the Varuna/Sydney Writers’ Festival.
Fowler is a former ABC foreign correspondent, chief of staff and acting foreign editor of The Australian. His explosive expose of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks was described by Walkley Magazine as "the one really independent account of Assange - written with the skill, economy and penetration that only Andrew Fowler brings to investigative journalism”.
Fowler is back in the bookstores with his latest, The War on Journalism.
In this timely lecture Fowler will attest that the public's right to know has become a battleground. Racked by public distrust, cowed by multinational corporations and intense government surveillance, the mainstream media is in crisis.
The event, presented by Varuna, the National Writers House as part of the Sydney Writers’ Festival, will include a lecture, questions and book signing. It will be held at The Carrington Hotel from 6-7pm on Monday, May 16. Tickets, $10-$15, at Varuna.com.au or call 4782 5674.
