The Penrith Panthers three senior basketball teams were all in action over the weekend, in Round Nine of the 2016 Waratah Youth League competition.
The Division One Men and Women were both at Bankstown to play the Bruins on Saturday and backed up in Newcastle against the Hunters on Sunday. The Panthers won all four games, locking down a spot in the top six for the men and consolidating first spot for the women.
The Division Two Men had a local derby against the bottom-placed Springwood Scorchers, with the action in the Blaxland High School Basketball Stadium. The Panther won comfortably 91-56.
But the Scorchers scored above their season average of 50 points per game and also kept an opponent below 100 points for the first time this season.
Bradley McGrath led the Panthers with 24 points, ahead of Joel Klein 11, Ru Daniel 10, Josh Wagenfeller (Glenbrook) 9 and Gabriel Alvarez 9. Best for the Scorchers were Tom Williamson (16), Dennis Starmans (12) and Ben Skinner (9).
