A small but fierce squad of swimmers represented Springwood Swimming Club at the Jets Winter Short Course Carnival at Orange on May 14-15.
The team of nine swimmers ranging in age from 7 to 15, streamlined, glided, turned and swam their way to 38 personal best times.
Molly Weaver (7) had a great result in her 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke swims, recording 4.83 and 4.06 sec personal best times respectively. Evie Bullock (8) swam strongly in her 100 individual medley to drop 8.21 secs off her entry time and collect a silver medal. Overall she secured four out of five PB times.
Henry Weaver(11) swam well to record both a second place and a PB of 1.18 secs in the 50m breaststroke MC and second place in the 50m freestyle MC division.
Lachlan Brown (11) flew off the blocks to an impressive six PBs out of six for the day with his best time improvements in the 100 individual medley and the 100m freestyle. Matthew Hill (12) swam his heart out to snare an amazing 27.51 sec PB for his 200 individual medley. He also placed third in the 100 individual medley, recording four PB times overall.
Eliza Huckel (11) swam a 7.78 sec PB in the 100m freestyle with further PBs in the 50m freestyle, 50m and 100m backstroke and five out of seven PB times overall.
Caleb Dryer (12) took 7.45 secs off his 200 backstroke time, backing this up with a PB in the 200 fly and 200 individual medley, giving him two silver and two bronze medals and five out of seven PB times overall.
Lily Morgan (11) swam very strongly to record six PBs for her seven events. She snared a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke, backing up third place in both the 100m breaststroke and 100 individual medley. Best results were a 4.45 sec PB in 100 IM and 3.73 in 100m breaststroke.
Zac Reichel (15) came first in the 400m freestyle trial with a PB of 3.60 seconds. He continued this fantastic effort with a second place in the 100m breaststroke with a 1.34 sec PB.
