Busy training manager Jo Boyce is stepping out in the corporate world with more of an edge after winning a Ruby Slippers Ultimate Style Makeover competition, worth $725.
Taking on a new role at a pharmaceutical company nine months ago, the Hazelbrook woman was looking for a style that suited her new position and when she heard about the competition on Facebook, she decided to enter.
She was one of three winners selected from 200 entrants and spent a day in Sydney in May being pampered, including hair, makeup and a styling session with Rachel Worden, founder of Sydney-based personal styling agency Ruby Slippers Styling.
Ms Boyce came away with a new wardrobe and a knowledge of the benefits of “mixing and matching” various apparel.
“They [the stylists] were good at knowing the kinds of shapes and colours and lines that look good on different people,” Ms Boyce said.
“I tried on things that on your own you wouldn’t think of.”
She acknowledged it was easy to fall behind current fashion trends if you didn’t have the time to read fashion magazines.
“By buying a few pieces I have expanded my wardrobe,” Ms Boyce said.
