Community plays a big part in the “feel and fabric” of Warrimoo Public School, says their P and C president Lara Greenhill.
And that strong connection with the local community was on display on Friday [May 27] when the school and local services came together for a Community Breakfast and Art Exhibition.
Students and their families dined on a delicious breakfast from Gateway Family Services, Warrimoo Public School staff and Rotary. And there was some hands on activities with the Warrimoo Bushfire Brigade, Lower Mountains Neighbourhood Centre and a surprise visit from Billie Booksie.
A highlight of the morning, was the art exhibition featuring creative pieces the students had completed in their own time - the brainchild of parent Barbara Jones.
Relieving principal Tina Cuzner said the breakfast was a great opportunity to bring together students, staff and families in an informal setting.
"Our community works in partnership with local schools and external agencies to connect and support the wellbeing of our learning community,” Ms Cuzner said.
Mrs Greenhill said to most people Warrimoo “is a small little village you pass through on your way up or down the mountain but the locals know what a gem of a place it is to live in and how lucky we are to have such a beautiful little school at the heart of it”.
“Events like these don’t just happen. They take a lot of planning and dedication and today’s wonderful breakfast and art exhibition is a credit to the school and it’s wonderful teachers, volunteers and the local services they brought together.
"Community plays a very big part in the feel and fabric of Warrimoo Public School. Today that was as evident as ever,” Mrs Greenhill said.
