Blackheath fashion icon Jenny Kee will deliver a keynote address at next week’s Mtns Made Creative Industries Symposium, a two day conference designed to help local creatives make a living from their creativity.
It will be a rare opportunity to hear Kee speak locally about her distinguished career.
Kee will be joined by Jess Scully, the curator of Sydney’s world renowned Vivid Ideas festival, together with a host of local and national creative industries experts who will be on hand to share their stories and expertise around the practicalities, joys and frustrations of running a small creative business.
The symposium, taking place on June 24 and 25 at the Fairmont Resort in Leura, is an opportunity for locals to learn from the best.
It is presented by Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise (BMEE) as part of the Creative Industries Cluster.
“We know we have excellent creative talent here in the Blue Mountains, but what we’ve found through our work with the Creative Industries Cluster is that there is real demand amongst creatives for business skills development, capacity building and knowledge sharing,” said BMEE CEO, Jacqueline Brinkman.
“We have put together a program that brings these topics to life, delivered by experts in their field. There is a lot of interest in the panel discussion on working with challenging clients, or our masterclass on how to write a successful arts grant application or how to build a winning personal brand,” said Ms Brinkman
“If creatives only attend one professional development event this year, it should be the Mtns Made Creative Industries Symposium,” said Ms Brinkman.
There are a range of ticketing options to suit people’s timetables, interests and budgets. The symposium is possible thanks to sponsors Scenic World, Western Sydney Business Centre and TAFE Western Sydney. Tickets at www.mtnsmade.com.au/symposium.
