A few more election carrots have been dangled in the electorate with the federal member for Macquarie, Louise Markus promising a re-elected Liberal government will commit $30,000 to the Blue Mountains Football Club for an automatic irrigation system at Knapsack Oval in Glenbrook.
“This project will enable the Turnbull Coalition Team to support the Blue Mountains Football Club in providing safer and more comfortable grounds for around 714 players aged 5 years old and up,” Mrs Markus said.
Blue Mountains Football Club is one of the largest in the Nepean Football Association which is made up of 32 clubs.
Mrs Markus said the new system would improve the quality of the grounds, particularly during dry weather, allowing for more participation in both football and cricket which is held on the grounds.
“We understand that by investing in projects such as this one, we help grow a more vibrant and viable community.”
Mrs Markus also offered funding of $2000 to the CEO and founder of Blue Mountains Cancer Help, Robyn Yates towards office equipment for the service in Katoomba.
“The contribution Blue Mountains Cancer Help makes to this community is immeasurable with their valuable volunteers providing much support, time and care to those affected by cancer at possibly the most difficult time in their lives," Mrs Markus said.
