Labor candidate for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, has announced a Shorten Labor Government will provide $100,000 to open the Bowens Creek Fire Trail.
Ms Templeman made the announcement at a community meeting at Mt Irvine on Saturday afternoon.
It matches a commitment made by Liberal MP Louise Markus during the election campaign.
“This $100,000 grant to the Hawkesbury City Council will allow the Bowens Creek Fire Trail to be opened for emergency access, making our community safer,” said Ms Templeman.
“This will allow Mt Irvine residents and visitors an alternative to Mt Wilson Road in the event of bushfires or other natural disasters.
“By providing an alternative route to the Bells Line of Road, the opening of the Bowens Creek Fire Trail will make Mt Irvine a safer place to live or visit.”
