Katoomba High School Year 11 students have won the Sharp Short drama competition hosted by Riverside Theatres in Parramatta.
Their play – written, directed and performed by the students – was called Human Kind. It was a multifaceted physical theatre performance that explored the idea of a personality spray altering humans’ emotions and changing personality.
The performance was one of nine and Katoomba High school performed alongside Hennessy Speech and Drama Studio, Richard Johnson Anglican School, Oxley College, Rutherford Technology High School, Elderslie High School and Hunter School of the Performing Arts.
There were various prizes for best actress, best actor and many others. The last announcement of the night was the big winner - the overall performance/production award of 2016, which Katoomba High won.
Their prize is a guest performance at the Australian Theatre for Young People cameo show at The Wharf Theatre plus complimentary tickets to any show the performers wish to attend.
