Springwood Swimming Club had four age champions at The Mountains and Plains Short Course Winter Championships in Orange on June 18-19
Nineteen swimmers posted impressive results and set themselves up for future competitions in 2016 at the meet.
Caleb Dryer (boys 12 years champion) broke age records for both the 100m fly and 200m individual medley, had six personal best (PB) times overall and took home three gold and three silver medals.
Loren McNeil (girls 13 years champion) continued a run of excellence by achieving four PBs and snared two gold and two silver medals.
Noah Cariolato, 15, (men’s open champion) managed four PBs, two gold medals for the 50m and 100m freestyle and a further three silver and three bronze medals.
Adam Goodwin (men’s 18/0) snatched first place in both the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and second place in 200m breaststroke.
Caleb Dryer qualified for three extra NSW Country championship events, and Noah Cariolato for seven NSW State and two NSW Open events.
Of the newer swimmers to competition, Georgia Eyles (13), managed PBs in all her races and claimed first place in both 50m and 100m freestyle.
There were also some excellent results for the club’s junior competitors.
Isabelle Iversen (10), took home a silver medal for both the 50m fly and 100m IM and a bronze medal for the 50m backstroke.
Lily Morgan (11), swam hard to claim seven PBs, taking home two gold medals for the 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Bella Stubbs (7), the youngest competitor of the group, swam two fabulous 25m races and with a big smile on her face, had great fun doing it. Oliver Williams (12), placed third in 100m backstroke.
Connor Ogden (15), continued his run of recent PBs and added two bronze medals to the list of his recent achievements.
The 12/U boys relay team of Oliver Williams, Hayden Mitchell, Ethan Power and Caleb Dryer, flew off the blocks and in a nail biting race came second in both the 200m medley and 200m freestyle relay events. In the medley, they were able to take a fantastic 6.81 secs off their PB time to qualify as a team for the upcoming NSW Country Championships on July 2-3.
The 12/U Girls 200m medley and 200m freestyle relay team of Lily Morgan, Eliza Huckel, Isabelle Iverson and Paige-lee Stubbs, swam together with great spirit and speed to achieve third place in both events and a 2.62 sec PB in the medley relay.
