Escape boredom these school holidays with $6 family flicks at the Blue Mountains Theatre, from July 6–14.
Come share the fun, action and imagination with this mix of classic and modern movies for the entire family.
The NeverEnding Story kicks off the show on Wednesday, July 6. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, The Perfect Storm), this classic masterpiece follows the adventures of Bastian (Barrett Oliver), a lonely young boy who escapes the ugliness of his everyday life by retreating into a mysterious book that carries him into a shimmering world of creatures, giant forests and massive oceans.
The second feature, on Thursday, July 7, is Snoopy and Charlie Brown – The Peanuts Movie. Dream big and laugh along with good ol’ Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved Peanuts gang as you’ve never seen them before — in a brand-new feature film from the imagination of Charles M. Schulz.
On Tuesday, July 12, the Blue Mountains Theatre presents Labyrinth – celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of this legendary film. David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly invite you into a magical universe where nothing is what it seems! Babysitting infant stepbrother Toby on a weekend night isn’t young Sarah’s (Connelly) idea of fun. Frustrated by his crying, she secretly imagines the Goblins from her favourite book, Labyrinth, carrying Toby away. When her fantasy comes true, a distraught Sarah must enter a maze of illusion to bring Toby back from a kingdom inhabited by mystical creatures and governed by the wicked Goblin King (Bowie).
Last but not least, on Thursday, July 14, The Good Dinosaur hits the big screen at the Hub. From the innovative minds of Disney Pixar comes a hilariously heartwarming adventure. What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely, and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In this epic journey into the world of dinosaurs, an apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While travelling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears.
The $6 family flicks are at the Hub, 106 Macquarie Road, Springwood, on July 6,7,12 and 14 at 11am. Bookings: 4723 5050 or www.bluemountainstheatre.com.
