A new environmental podcast series, Radio ASAP – As Sustainably As Possible - was launched in Katoomba last week.
Radio ASAP is a show for everyone - through the celebration and sharing of everyday eco-initiatives, it aims to entertain and inspire listeners to adopt a more environmentally conscious way of life.
“As members of the community, young and old alike, we all need to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle and Radio ASAP is helping us to inspire one another and share knowledge to help reduce our negative impact on the planet,” said founder, Shirley 'Baglady' Lewis, veteran environmental activist, broadcaster, journalist and soon-to-be granny.
Each episode of Radio ASAP includes fresh ideas and initiatives from environmental experts, interviews with sustainability pioneers, vox-pops, celebrities, comedy, weekly challenges and featured musicians. The first episode features Felix Reibl from The Cat Empire, talking about their donation of solar panels to a Sydney school; mailbag questions are answered by Miss Earth Australia, Dayanna Grageda; and a visit is made to student housing coop, STUCCO, as it embraces solar.
Radio ASAP’s lively half-hour program expounds the core principles of simplicity, positive action and respect for our planet – celebrating even the smallest steps taken towards a more sustainable future.
“While environmental action is urgent and necessary,” said Shirley Lewis, “It can also be exciting and fulfilling to do.”
