New Coles opens its doors in Katoomba

The new Coles supermarket in Katoomba opened its doors this morning amid much excitement from local shoppers who got their first look at the 4100 square metre centre, staffed by a team of 70 casual, part-time and full-time employees.

It was a busy time for the staff, with the supermarket’s old location down the hill in Pioneer Place closing only the night before.

The new and much larger Coles supermarket in Katoomba, with entrances off Parke Street and College Lane, has an additional 3000 lines across grocery, dairy and homewares.

It has a fresh produce section displaying fruit and vegetables on ice for maximum freshness, an extensive seafood selection, a bakery, an in-store butcher and delicatessen.

Supermarket manager Nick Mavraganis has been with Coles for 13 years and is looking forward to meeting customers and showing them the new supermarket’s many custom-designed features.

“We’re proud to be able to bring Katoomba locals a bigger and better shopping experience, moving out of our old store and into this fantastic new space,” Mr Mavraganis said.

“Shoppers can expect the same quality, value and exceptional service they’re accustomed to at Coles.

“We have some wonderful team members like Rhonda Edwards, who has been a part of the service team for 29 years.”

Coles Katoomba is open daily from 6am to midnight.
