The Penrith Basketball Association's two Division One Youth League teams were in action in the 2016 Waratah Youth League competition over the past week.
The Penrith men started the round badly, falling 98-89 to an under-strength Blacktown Storm at the Kevin Betts Stadium, Mt Druitt.
The Panthers were on the road to Crows Nest on Saturday, getting back into winning form with an 87-78 victory.
Sunday had the Panthers back at home hosting the Maitland Mustangs and they would record their second win of the round, knocking over the visitors 78-72.
Those results were significant, giving the Panthers an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.
Panthers head coach Jeff Cooper has urged his team to take one game at a time, with a view of finishing the season with four consecutive wins – and a play-off berth.
The Penrith women were also in Crows Nest on Saturday and suffered one of their worst results of the season, defeated 85-56 by the Bears.
Both Penrith Division One teams host the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on Sunday - men at 1pm and women at 3pm.
