Lost Bear Gallery is presenting an exhibition of new works by Herman Pekel from August 6–30.
A full-time painter since the age of 17 when he held his first solo – and sell-out – exhibition, Pekel’s paintings are characterised by their dynamism and atmospheric quality.
The works in this exhibition include Australian landscapes as well as city scenes. Both exude a tangible energy as well as a certain degree of idealisation, or at the least, a heightened beauty.
Painting is Pekel’s lifelong calling. "From the age of 12 I was addicted to paint: its tactile quality, the smell and the feel… I am still obsessed.”
Pekel’s exhibition is at Lost Bear Gallery, 98 Lurline St, Katoomba, daily 10am-5pm.
